Request Monroe County Court Records

Monroe County court records begin with the clerk of the court that heard the case. That is the first stop. Circuit files and lower-court files sit with different offices, so the court level decides where your request goes. A free statewide search can spot many cases and even link some public documents. It cannot replace a copy the clerk authenticates. Know the difference between a plain copy, a certified copy, and a transcript before you ask. Arkansas rules, sealing orders, and limits on protected information still shape what anyone can see.

How to Get Court Records

Start with Search ARCourts, the free statewide reference search. Pick Monroe County. Confirm the court level. Write down the case number, the filing title, and the filing date. Some public filings carry links there. When the image you need is not linked, go to the filing clerk. Circuit criminal, civil, domestic-relations, probate, and juvenile files belong to the Monroe County Circuit Clerk. Traffic, misdemeanor, preliminary-felony, limited civil, and small-claims files go to the Clarendon, Brinkley, or Holly Grove District Court department that handled the case.

  1. Identify the exact court, case number, document title, and approximate filing date.
  2. Decide whether a docket print, plain document, certified document, exemplified document, or transcript is needed.
  3. Check Search ARCourts for a linked public image, then call the correct clerk if it is absent.
  4. Ask about inspection, mail delivery, current cost, accepted payment, identification, and turnaround.
  5. Send payment only after the clerk confirms the amount and request method.

The documented routes are phone, fax, mail, and the counter in person. The Monroe County clerk offers no verified email, drop box, online certified-copy order, or public courthouse terminal. An Arkansas Freedom of Information Act request also will not override the court-file rules in Administrative Order 19.

Monroe County Court Record Custodians

The court name on your Monroe County case tells you where to send the request. Alice Smith, the Circuit Clerk named in the Arkansas Judiciary clerk directory, holds the Monroe County Circuit Court file. Denise Sturmer staffs the Clarendon District Court department. Kimberly Henry serves Brinkley. Ruthie Foster serves Holly Grove. Each district clerk keeps that department's limited-jurisdiction court records.

A separately elected County and Probate Clerk works from the same address. Modern judicial probate, though, runs as a Circuit Court division. Route a probate case-file request to the Circuit Clerk unless that office points you elsewhere.

Types of Court Records

A Monroe County docket is the timeline of a case. It lists action in order. It can point to pleadings, motions, orders, judgments, and settings. Yet it is not the full case file. Search ARCourts may show parties, the judge, filings, charges and dispositions, future events, judgments, and links to some public filings. Cases differ. Not every case has each block, and not every listed filing has a downloadable image.

  • Docket or case-history print showing recorded activity
  • Complaint, petition, answer, motion, summons, or other filed pleading
  • Signed order, judgment, disposition sheet, or sentencing order
  • Plain, certified, or exemplified reproduction of a filed record
  • Transcript of spoken testimony prepared through the court reporter

Name the Monroe County document you want, with its date when you can. Asking for "the whole file" may mean more staff review, more pages, and a bigger quote than one Monroe County judgment or order.

Three Monroe County Court Record Layers

Three layers exist here. A free search result, the underlying filing, and an authenticated copy each serve a different need. Search ARCourts prints carry an unofficial watermark. A linked PDF can show the filed image itself. Authentication still comes only from the clerk who holds the original Monroe County court record. Certification is that clerk's formal confirmation the reproduction matches the official file.

What a Court Record Contains

What a court record holds depends on the case type and the court. Search ARCourts shows a circuit-style example like 10CR-09-100 and a district-style example like LRCR-09-100. Each one illustrates a court or type prefix, a year, and a sequence number. Neither is a Monroe County sample case. For the safest field inventory, use the official portal categories.

Case identityCase number, style or description, case type, parties, and court
Judicial assignmentJudge shown for the matter, when published
ChronologyFilings, case events, milestones, and future events
Case-specific resultsCharges and dispositions in criminal or traffic matters; judgments in applicable cases
DocumentsLinks to some public filing images, not a promise of the full file

A missing document link proves nothing about the file. It only means the Monroe County clerk is your next source.

Older Monroe County Court Record Requests

Monroe County publishes no archive inventory and no online historical start date. An older Monroe County court record could sit onsite. It could be scanned, live on microfilm, or have been transferred. A blank portal result is not proof of a gap in the official file. Clear any narrow filters first. Check the spelling too. Then give the proper clerk the court, the case number if known, party names, a rough filing year, and the document you want. Ask where the file is stored. Ask whether staff can count the pages before you pay. Monroe County's courthouse history is long, and no exact record range is known to have been destroyed. A fire or a building change is no reason to assume one case file is gone. Note: Older storage and retrieval times are not published. So confirm availability and turnaround before you travel or mail anything.

Certified Copies and Fees

Monroe County publishes no per-page copy charge, certification fee, exemplification fee, search fee, accepted payment list, or fee-waiver procedure. Those gaps are real. Call the correct clerk, describe the exact court record, and ask for a current quote. Never borrow a fee from another Arkansas county.

Arkansas eFlex registration and filing charges are filer expenses. They are not fees to read Search ARCourts or to get a Monroe County clerk copy.

Monroe County Compiled Court Data

The Arkansas Judiciary data-request options cover compiled or bulk court information. They do not replace a Monroe County court record request to the clerk for one order, judgment, or docket. The official overview explains why that line matters.

Monroe County court records data request options

Aggregated statistics and statewide request rules are one thing. A single Monroe County court record is another. For one case, contact the filing clerk rather than these statewide channels.

The Compiled Information Request form shows what the state asks for: requester and organization details, contact information, and a detailed description of the compiled data, including whether identifiable people are essential to it.

Monroe County court records compiled information request form

Compiled information that is excluded or identifiable may call for added paperwork under Administrative Order 19. That is a separate track from buying a certified copy of a Monroe County court record in one case.

Public Access and Sealed Records

Access to Monroe County court case records runs through Arkansas Administrative Order 19. Remote access can be narrower than what you inspect at a Monroe County courthouse. Federal and state law, court rules, and standing court orders all shield certain material. Social Security numbers and account data stay out of public release. So do sealed information and other listed identifiers.

Arkansas court-record rules: Administrative Order 19 governs access, exclusions, and compiled information. Administrative Order 19.1 requires confidential data to be redacted from a public administrative record while prescribed unredacted content is filed under seal. Arkansas FOIA, Ark. Code Ann. ยง25-19-105, supplies a general public-record framework, but it does not override the court-specific order.

Ordinary public filters will not surface juvenile, sealed, or confidential material. A party or another authorized person may hold wider rights. To use them, that authority must be shown to the court first.

Monroe County Court Record Redactions

A redaction masks or strips protected data from the public version of a court record. It does not open every document in a restricted matter just because a name is hidden. Administrative Order 19 and related law govern what a searcher may see. A sealing order can close the whole item or the whole case. For that reason, Search ARCourts may show less than the file an authorized party can view. If a public image leaves out what you need, ask the clerk whether a redacted copy exists. Portal support cannot overrule a restriction. AOC support helps with the search interface itself. The filing court alone answers case-specific access and correction questions.

Monroe County Court Record Corrections

A glitch in the portal is not the same as an error in the official file. AOC support at 501-410-1900 option 1 or 866-823-5778 handles how Search ARCourts works. It cannot change a party name, a filing entry, a judgment, or a hearing date on a Monroe County court record. Case-specific problems go to the clerk who keeps the file, with the exact entry identified. When the issue is the substance of an order, the clerk cannot rewrite the judge's ruling. Ask instead which court process applies. Keep the portal print as a locator. But check it against the clerk's official record before claiming the file itself is wrong.

Monroe County Court Testimony Records

A docket entry proves a hearing happened. A filed order states what the judge ruled. Neither gives a word-for-word account of the testimony. That product is a transcript, prepared by the assigned court reporter. Give the clerk or court administrator the case number, the judge or division, and the hearing date. Then ask how to reach the reporter.

The reporter sets the terms. That means rates, deposits, production time, and delivery method for a Monroe County proceeding. If a signed ruling is all you need, request the order from the clerk instead. That distinction saves you from paying for testimony. The filed court record already answers the question.

Monroe County Court Record Request Check

Call before you mail anything. Confirm the exact office. Ask about the record form, the page count if known, the current cost, accepted payment, and the delivery address. Ask whether identification is required and whether the file needs retrieval or review. Monroe County publishes no local email request route and no turnaround time. The phone check is part of the request itself.

For circuit court records, call 870-747-3615. For district records, use Clarendon at 870-747-5200, Brinkley at 870-734-2520, or Holly Grove at 870-462-3422. Holly Grove lists a post office box. It shows no current physical courtroom address, so confirm before visiting. Keep the case number in every call and written request.
